Key Focus Areas

Usevya Development Society (UDESO) addresses interconnected social, economic, environmental, and governance challenges that affect the well-being and development of underserved communities. Through community-centred interventions and strategic partnerships, the organisation works to expand opportunities, strengthen resilience, promote inclusion, and improve access to essential services and resources.

Our programmes are designed to respond to community priorities while strengthening local capacity and creating conditions for people to lead and sustain positive change. The following programmatic areas guide UDESO’s work:

Poverty reduction in rural areas

Promoting sustainable livelihoods and economic opportunities through entrepreneurship, skills development, financial literacy, and support that enables rural communities to strengthen household income, economic resilience, and self-reliance.

Health services, water supply and sanitation

Promoting equitable access to quality health services, safe water, and adequate sanitation through health education, disease prevention, improved hygiene practices, and stronger community health systems.

Community capacity building

Strengthening the knowledge, skills, leadership, and self-reliance of individuals and communities through training, mentorship, and practical support that enables them to address local challenges and lead sustainable development.

Environmental conservation

Promoting responsible management and protection of natural resources through environmental education, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, reforestation, and community action to reduce environmental degradation and strengthen resilience to climate change.

Human rights and good governance

Promoting human rights, equality, dignity, and accountable governance by addressing gender-based violence, violence against children, discrimination, and exclusion while strengthening community participation and protection of vulnerable groups.

Community capacity building

Promoting equitable access to quality education, literacy, digital skills, mentorship, and opportunities that equip children and young people with the knowledge, confidence, and capabilities to achieve their potential and contribute to community development.
