Youth Empowerment Program

Through Youth Empowerment Programs we creates improved social skills, improved behavior,  increased self-esteem and increased self-efficacy. In 2016 UDESO established a center namely Usevya Youth Center currently known as Mpimbwe Digital & Service Center. The center was established to bring together youth and provide them with education, awareness and new life skills. Also, to expose youth to new life skills and help them to reach their potentials.

Objectives

The main objectives of this program are to create;

  • Active citizens; The program plays a crucial role in fostering a sense of civic engagement and social responsibility in young people. Also, encourage youth to volunteer in their communities, advocate for social justice, or even participate in local government processes. This active participation empowers young people to become agents of change and contribute positively to their communities.
  • Skillful navigators; The program equip youth with valuable skills that can benefit them both personally and professionally. These skills include computer literacy, communication skills and critical thinking.

Thus, through Mpimbwe Digital & Service Center UDESO support youth to exercise and keep themselves healthy by providing sports and games materials i.e., kits and playground. The center also, welcomes youth to visit at the center to watch different TV programs for refreshment and entertainment.

We believe that by empowering youth both girls and boys through equipping them with skill set and knowledge that aligns with global technological advancements, we automatically create invaluable assets for sustainable Tanzania with ability of using digital platform to accelerate socio-economic development of their community.

Investing in Youth Empowerment Programs is an investment in the future.  Empowered youth bring a multitude of benefits not just to themselves but also to their communities and the world at large. Some of key advantages of YEPs include;

Increased Self-Esteem: The program is significantly boosting a young person’s self-confidence and sense of self-worth. Through skill development and positive reinforcement, young people develop a belief in their abilities and the potential to achieve their goals.

Enhanced Skill Development: Also, the program provides young people with valuable skills that can translate into academic success, improved employability, and later greater financial independence. These skills empower them to navigate the complexities of life and secure a brighter future.

Reduced Risk of Social Issues: By equipping young people with social and emotional learning skills, the program helps them make positive choices and avoid risky behaviors like substance abuse or delinquent activities.

Stronger Communities: Youth with a sense of civic engagement are more likely to contribute to their communities. YEPs encourage young people to be active citizens, fostering a sense of social responsibility and a drive to improve their surroundings.

The center get momentum in 2022 when UDESO received 5 desktop computers and Television 50” from UCSAF, one desktop computer, one printer and projector from the former Prime Minister of United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Mizengo P. Pinda.
